Pedal for Kids Celebrates 35 years and raises $560,000 in support of pediatric dentistry
Tuesday, June 16, 2026

Hundreds of cyclists, volunteers, and donors came together this week to ride in support of The Montreal Children’s Hospital Foundation and celebrate the 35th anniversary of Pedal for Kids, raising $560,000.
Over the past 35 years, Pedal for Kids has raised more than $16 million for the The Children's. These funds support innovative programs and leading-edge research projects that help improve the lives of children and families across Quebec.
This year, cyclists were inspired by Zackary, the 2026 Pedal for Kids spokeschild. Two years ago, Zackary, who has cerebral palsy, underwent spinal surgery at The Children’s. The procedure gave him the mobility he needed to achieve one of his biggest dreams: riding a BMX bike.
Now 10 years old, Zackary rides with confidence and determination, and even competes. His story is a powerful example of the lasting impact your support can have on children’s lives.
Over four days, participants cycled through the heart of downtown Montreal aboard the event’s impressive 30-seat Mighty Bike, demonstrating the spirit of generosity and community that has driven Pedal for Kids for more than three decades.
35 years of community in action
“As we celebrate the 35th anniversary of Pedal for Kids, we pay tribute to the incredible community that comes together year after year to support patients at The Children’s,” said Renée Vézina, President of The Montreal Children’s Hospital Foundation. “We are deeply moved by their generosity and support.”
Pedal for Kids was co-founded by Michael Conway in memory of his daughter, Meagan, who was treated at The Montreal Children’s Hospital. What began as a way to honour her memory has become one of Montreal’s most important philanthropic traditions over the past 35 years.
“When we launched Pedal for Kids, we never imagined how much the event would grow. Thirty-five years later, seeing the community continue to rally with such generosity for the children and families of The Montreal Children’s Hospital is truly extraordinary,” said Conway.
“There is an army of people to thank for the continuing success of PFK, from the organizing committee led by Chair Anthony Pepper and Chair Emeritus Paul Normandin, to the hundreds of teams who have participated with some 25,000 riders who pedalled more than 3,000 km to raise over $16 million to improve pediatric health care. Personally, I’m indebted to all these people for creating a fitting tribute to my little girl.”
This year, participants rode in support of the Hospital’s pediatric dentistry clinic, the largest and busiest pediatric dental facility in Canada. The clinic treats children who might otherwise face barriers to accessing dental care, including those with complex medical conditions, developmental disabilities, or behavioural challenges.
