23rd Caring for Kids Radiothon raises $1,425,921 for The Montreal Children’s Hospital. This success belongs to our Children’s community!

Thank you for coming together in such an incredible way.

At this year’s annual Caring for Kids Radiothon, young patients and families shared their powerful stories on Montreal’s airwaves, inspiring thousands of donors to come together, join the Circle of Hugs and raise $1,424,921. The event supports The Children’s, which provides specialized care to children from communities across Quebec.

Broadcast throughout the day across Bell Media radio stations CJAD 800, 95.9 Virgin Radio, CHOM 97 7, and TSN Radio 690, the Radiothon gave listeners a glimpse into the extraordinary journeys of children receiving care at The Children’s and the teams who care for them.

Funds raised support The Healthy Kids Fund, which gives The Children’s the flexibility to quickly respond to its most pressing priorities in areas where the potential impact for kids and families is greatest.

Evan and Emma at the heart of Radiothon

Among the patients and families who shared their stories were this year’s spokeskids Evan and Emma, seven-year-old twins whose family knows first-hand the difference that supporting The Children’s can make.

Born at just 29 weeks, Evan spent the first eight months of his life at The Children’s and underwent six surgeries before his first birthday. Now seven, he has been through more than 20 surgeries, with his family and care teams beside him every step of the way.

Through it all, his twin sister Emma has been one of his biggest supporters. Their family says the teams at The Children’s have helped them through some of their hardest moments and given Evan and Emma the chance to simply be kids.

Their story is one of many shared during the Radiothon, showing listeners the very real difference their generosity can make.

“Every donation tells our patients and their families that their community is behind them,” said Renée Vézina, President of The Montreal Children’s Hospital Foundation. “Children come to the Hospital from across Quebec for the very best care available.  During the Radiothon, our community came together for them. To everyone who chose to support them, thank you.”

Mikaël Kingsbury answers the call

This year’s Radiothon also welcomed Olympic champion Mikaël Kingsbury, the most decorated freestyle skier of all time, and ambassador for The Children’s Foundation.

Kingsbury joined volunteers at the phone bank, answering calls from donors and spending time with some of the children and families who shared their stories.
