The “King of Moguls” takes on a new challenge: championing children’s health
Mikaël Kingsbury, Canadian Olympic champion and the most decorated freestyle skier of all time, is joining our mission by becoming an ambassador for The Children’s Foundation.
“As a father and athlete, I am proud to support The Montreal Children’s Hospital Foundation to help give sick children across Quebec the chance to grow up healthy.”
A native of Deux-Montagnes, Que., five-time Olympic medallist Mikaël Kingsbury has deep ties to Quebec, where he lives with his partner Laurence and their 21-month-old son. After competing in his final Olympic Games in Milano-Cortina earlier this year, Mikaël is very excited about taking on this new challenge.
“It means the world to me to have the chance to help kids and their families in my home province,” he said.
Considered one of the greatest freestyle skiers of all time, Mikaël dominated the international mogul circuit for over a decade. Nicknamed the “King of Moguls,” he has 100 World Cup victories and five Olympic medals, including two golds.
Known for his consistency, discipline, and determination, Mikaël has inspired a whole generation of young athletes in Quebec and across Canada.
Mikaël will help raise the Foundation’s profile and engage the public through various campaigns, events, and visits with patients.
He will also help raise awareness of the needs of the children and adolescents treated at The Children’s, which serves 63 per cent of Quebec’s territory. Through his involvement, Mikaël will also encourage Quebecers to support our Foundation’s mission, which funds innovative, life-changing pediatric and maternal-fetal care, as well as research and programs that support children and families both at the Hospital and beyond its walls.
“We are incredibly proud to welcome Mikaël to The Children’s family,” said Renée Vézina, President of The Montreal Children’s Hospital Foundation. “People across Quebec know him for his determination, humility and heart. Now, as a father and ambassador, he is helping shine a light on the importance of giving every child and family the best possible care and support when they need it most.”
