The 21st Annual Radiothon Raised $1,363,250 for seriously ill children

It was an emotional day at The Children’s yesterday as kids and families shared stories of care, compassion, loss, and recovery during the 21st annual Caring for Kids Radiothon. Morning and drive show hosts from CJAD 800, 95.9 Virgin Radio, CHOM 97 7 and TSN Radio 690 broadcasted live from The Children’s, as did CTV News Montreal weather announcer. Just before the clock struck 7:00 p.m., four-year-old Radiothon spokes child Agathe, who was born at 26 weeks gestation, announced the Radiothon had raised an outstanding $1,363,250.

Since its launch in 2004, the Caring for Kids Radiothon has raised over $31 million, helping Quebec’s sickest children cope with chronic or acute medical conditions and supporting women with high-risk pregnancies. In the last year alone, your donation allowed The Children’s to:

  • Perform 6,520 lifesaving and life-altering surgeries.
  • Care for 71,799 seriously ill or injured children in the Emergency Department.
  • Treat 195,064 children in outpatient clinics.
  • Support 8,505 children and teens suffering from mental health issues.
  • Take care of 2,654 women throughout their high-risk pregnancies and deliver their newborns.

We couldn’t do what we do without you!

“Healthy children can run, play, and dream without limits. But for sick children, every day can be a battle against pain, fatigue, and uncertainty. Your donations ensure these brave patients receive the care they need to reclaim their childhoods and look forward to brighter futures,” said Renée Vézina, President of The Montreal Children’s Hospital Foundation. “Your donation transforms care allowing these courageous kids to regain their energy and even resume being a little bratty from time to time. And that is okay because a bratty kid is a healthy kid. And thanks to you, the hospital allows every child and teen in Quebec to be as healthy as possible.”

Radiothon donations go to The Children’s Foundation’s Healthy Kids Fund, which supports the Hospital's most urgent needs, including purchasing medical and surgical equipment, funding innovative research, and supporting a wide variety of patient care programs and services.
