The Air Canada Foundation – A partnership making a real difference
The Air Canada Foundation is an important partner of the Montreal Children’s Hospital Foundation (MCHF). Its mission is to provide fundraising support to Canadian charities focused on improving children's health and well-being. Through their main pillars, they help children by connecting them to medical care, alleviating child poverty and helping children fulfill their dreams. The Air Canada Foundation also offers continued support to major health-related causes that benefit Canadians and is an active participant in international humanitarian relief activities.
Since 2003, hundreds of families have counted on the Hospital Transportation Program to alleviate the emotional and economic burden of travelling by air for medical treatment. Each year, the Air Canada Foundation collects and redistributes millions of Aeroplan Miles to 15 pediatric hospitals across Canada, helping sick children get the medical care that they need.
Through its Transportation Program, the Air Canada Foundation helped patient Arianne - who lives a 10-hour drive from Montreal - to receive critically needed tertiary care at the Montreal Children’s Hospital. "I really don’t know what we would do without this service,” says Arianne’s mom Roseann. "It has significantly reduced our travel time, which lifts a huge amount of stress off Arianne’s shoulders. Driving to appointments used to be a three-day affair. Now, she can go to school as usual, take an afternoon flight to the hospital, and fly back the same evening. She does not have to worry about catching up on schoolwork, and instead, can focus on sports and just being a teenager. We are beyond grateful that this program exists.”
The Air Canada Foundation has also generously supported numerous MCHF programs such as the Children’s Ball, which funds the hospital’s most urgent needs, and various pieces of life-saving equipment which permit the Children’s to provide cutting-edge care. They have consistently helped the MCH find unexpected ways to heal for many years, and surely for many more years to come. Thank you for your unwavering support.
