Spending the holidays at the Hospital
Asher was diagnosed with Trisomy 21 also known as Down syndrome when his mom Dolores was pregnant. Doctors also saw on an ultrasound that he had a hole in his heart, and he needed surgery at only 3-months old. He developed severe pulmonary hypertension after his heart surgery and needs oxygen 24-7.
Asher spent the first 16 months of his life at the Hospital, and he was followed by many specialists and had numerous operations. He benefitted from Child Life Services and had many play dates, music therapy, and all of his first Holidays and his first Birthday at the Hospital.
Despite his rough start, Asher is always happy, and his smile is contagious, just ask any of the staff at The Children`s. He will be followed by The Children’s for many years to come but for now, he is happy to be home with his family.
