Two leading figures at The Children’s appointed to the Order of Canada

Congratulations to two more leading figures at The Children’s who were appointed to the Order of Canada today.

Dr. Nada Jabado, O.C.

The Children’s Nada Jabado revolutionized pediatric neuro-oncology with her discovery of oncohistones, linking mutations in regulatory histones to cancer. This groundbreaking work revealed histones’ role in developmental and neurodevelopmental diseases, driving new research, clinical trials and treatments, and reshaping cancer and epigenetics studies globally.

Dr. Sam D. Shemie, C.M.

Pediatric intensive care physician at The Children’s, Dr. Sam Shemie has spearheaded advancements in organ donation and transplantation in Canada and abroad.

Her Excellency the Right Honourable Mary Simon notes, ‘Members of the Order of Canada are builders of hope for a better future. Each in their way, they broaden the realm of possibilities and inspire others to continue pushing its boundaries. Thank you for your perseverance, fearless leadership and visionary spirit…’

It’s a trifecta.

Drs. Jabado and Shemie join Dan Poenaru, C.M., pediatric surgeon at The Children’s who joined the order of Canada in June of this year.

Congratulations to all three on this well-deserved recognition of their tireless efforts to help seriously ill Quebec children regain their boundless energy and become bratty once again. Because as we all know, a bratty child is a healthy child. Bravo!
