Playground Gala : Caribbean vibes with P.K. for the cause
August 31st marked the third edition of P.K. Subban’s annual Montreal gala! At the Jetée Alexandra, in the Old-Port of Montreal, hundreds of people gathered to raise funds for the P.K.’s Helping Hand for the Children’s.
If you think our spokesperson is larger than life, then you won’t be surprised to learn that the evening was equally as flamboyant. Organized by event planner extraordinaire, Nadia Saputo, guests arrived for cocktails to the sounds of steel pan music. When it was time for dinner, they were led through a unique beverage tunnel to the exotic, Caribbean-themed dining room. There, professional dancers, raffles, auctions, and carnival games also awaited them. The evening was MC’d by Kardinal Offishall and DJ Scratch got everyone out on the dance floor.
Although she could not attend, P.K.’s girlfriend, Olympic athlete Lindsay Vonn, made a surprise appearance through a video where she announced a donation for the cause. Among the partygoers were Georges St. Pierre, Mitsou, Vanessa Grimaldi and author Justin Kingsley. Mme Élise Béliveau, wife of the late hockey player Jean Béliveau was P.K.’s special guest. Grace, Mia, along with Children’s patients Talia and David, had a great time meeting their hero!
Thanks to P.K. and his incredible team, the event outshone the previous year, raising $386,000. To date, “P.K.’s Helping Hand” has helped over 13,000 patients and their families at the Children’s. Thank you P.K. for your amazing support and congratulations on your gala, which gets bigger and better every year!
