Meet the Foundation's new Chairman of the Board and our three new Directors

The Foundation is delighted to announce that Norman E. Hébert, C.M., Executive Chairman of Groupe Park Avenue, is the new Chairman of the Board of Directors

We would like to also welcome three new directors: Viviane Croux, Senior Vice-President and Head of Quebec, BMO Enterprises Canada; Harley Finkelstein, President, Shopify; and Mitch Garber, C.M., investor, minority owner and member of the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors of the Seattle Kraken (NHL).

Succeeding Katrin Nakashima, whose commitment and excellence remain unsurpassed, Mr. Hébert takes the helm at a crucial time, as we enter the second half of our Finding Unexpected Ways to Heal campaign, which aims to raise $200 million. We are honoured that he has agreed to take on the important role of Chairman of the Board.

Having worked in the automotive industry for over 40 years, Mr. Hébert joined the Board in 2021 and was appointed Co-Vice Chairman in 2022. He currently sits on the board of AddÉnergie and is co-chair of Bonjour Startup Montréal and has chaired or co-chaired numerous boards throughout his career.

Numerous honours

A recipient of the CADA National Laureate Award - Ambassador Category, Mr. Hébert is the first person in Quebec to have received this high distinction from the Canadian automotive industry. Mr. Hébert is also a member of the Order of Canada. A graduate in business administration from Concordia University, Mr. Hébert also studied civil law and obtained his law degree from the University of Ottawa.

Our new prestigious directors

We are honoured to welcome Viviane Croux, a senior executive and a leading figure in the Quebec business world. She inspires admiration for her remarkable career spanning almost twenty-five years in the financial sector and her sustained commitment to the community.

Viviane supports numerous organizations that help children and their families, including Le Phare des enfants et familles and La Fondation des jeunes de la DPJ. We are therefore very fortunate to be able to count her among us and to benefit from her vast and valuable experience.

We are proud to have Harley Finkelstein also join The Foundation. Mr. Finkelstein is a McGill graduate, entrepreneur, lawyer, Dragons’ Den television star, and the president of Shopify.

He has received numerous awards and honours and is highly sought after by the boards of many prestigious companies and charities. He has served on numerous boards and is still active on the boards of the National Retail Federation and Operation Hope. We are delighted to welcome this passionate and committed leader and are confident that he will be a major asset to the future of the Foundation.

Last but not least, Mitch Garber, C.M., is a lawyer by training and is co-founder and former CEO of Optimal Payments/Paysafe. He also served as CEO of PartyGaming Plc/Party Bwin and Caesars Acquisition Company and was President of Invest in Canada, the agency responsible for foreign investment in Canada.

Mr. Garber is also a minority owner and member of the Seattle Kraken (NHL) executive committee, and he participated as a 'Dragon' on Dans L'Oeil du dragon (the Quebec version of Dragons' Den). Mr. Garber was already very involved with the Foundation as co-chair of the Golf Tournament. He has also led several major philanthropic campaigns, including helping to raise millions for the United Way and CJA campaigns. For all of his hard work, Mitch has been awarded the Order of Canada in 2019.

We are so grateful to be able to work with these exceptional leaders, with the other great members of our Board of Directors, and with visionary Quebecers to Find Unexpected Ways to Heal and transform care for Quebec's sickest children and teenagers.
