AHEPA teams up with P.K.

On Friday, February 8th, 2019, the Montreal AHEPA (American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association) Family partnered with the P.K. Subban Foundation for an anniversary to remember. Their annual Valentine’s Ball raises money for various children’s causes in the greater Montreal area. In 2000, the first beneficiary was the Montreal Children’s Hospital Foundation and we were honoured that they returned to the Children’s for this 20 yearmilestone.

It was a memorable one, with record attendance and an –unprecedented amount of $134,000 raised for P.K.’s Helping Hand!

“We are truly honored to have partnered with the P.K. Subban Foundation having raised that wonderful amount together,” says Chairman, James Hutchison. “We are touched to see the many dignitaries and members of the AHEPA Family that travelled from out of town, province and country to celebrate with us. Having now raised a combined total of $1,021,000 for the love of children on this 20th anniversary is a record worthy of the NHL.”

Guests of honour, Karl and Maria Subban, were delighted to accept the cheque on behalf of their son’s foundation. Hundreds of members of the Greek community and their friends joined the Subban family and other dignitaries, including the Greek Ambassador, for a night of great food and dancing, all for a good cause.

P.K.’s Helping Hand is a fund dedicated to assisting vulnerable families financially devastated by a child’s illness. Having a sick child often means one parent has to stop working, which puts a financial burden on the whole family. P.K.’s Helping Hand is dedicated to making sure that these parents don’t have to worry about paying for necessities like food and medicine and can instead focus on what’s most important: helping their child get well.

From our family to yours, thank you, AHEPA and all your supporters. – As P.K. says, giving back really is contagious!
