The 30th annual Pedal for Kids raises over $300,000 for our young patients
On the week of September 20, 2021, over 400 participants pedalled their hearts out as they propelled the 30-seat Mighty Bike around Montreal’s downtown core during the 30th annual edition of Pedal for Kids, a flagship event of The Children’s Foundation. The donation tally was an impressive $300,712!
More than 20 corporate teams raised money for The Children’s Healthy Kids Fund. When a newborn, child, adolescent or pregnant mom needs an unexpected treatment that could be the difference between life and death, the Healthy Kids Fund is at the rescue. The fund allows the Hospital to meet its most urgent needs quickly. Donations to this fund have transformed care for thousands of young patients and their families.
Evan, this year’s Pedal for Kids hero, motivated cyclists!
Evan was born with a hole in the wall separating his heart’s ventricles, and only his right ventricle functioned. When only 17-days old, the tiny baby underwent his first of three open-heart surgeries. Today, Evan is a big six-year-old. His condition is stable, thanks to the expertise of The Children’s Dr. Christo Tchervenkov, head of the Pediatric Cardiovascular Surgery Division, and Pediatric Cardiologist Dr. Maria Tiscar Cavallé-Garrido, and their teams.
Over 13-million reasons to say thank you!
Since its start in 1991, Pedal for Kids, the Foundation’s longest-running annual event, has raised well over $13 million! A huge thank you to our hero Evan, our incredible cyclists and our superb volunteers. A special shout out to Pedal for Kids’ Committee Co-Chairs Rudy Azoulay and Eddy Farrace, the members of the organizing committee, and event sponsors Groupe AGW Inc. and Remorquage Burstall Conrad.
To participate in this year’s Pedal for Kids, all cyclists had to present their vaccination passport.
