Tiny Survivors
Thanks to your generosity, a remarkable $110,010 was raised to help our tiniest patients return to their energetic selves!
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for participating in our event in support of The Children’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).
The Children’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) accounts for a third of its beds, and cares for the province’s sickest, tiniest babies, half of whom are born in other hospitals.
Your support helps to ensure the gold-standard of care in the NICU, 24 hours per day, 365 days a year by funding the training these nurses require in the continually evolving field of neonatal medicine.
“We have a unit that includes 52 beds, with 900 admissions per year,” explains Neonatologist Dr. Richard Gosselin. “It’s a difficult situation for parents to see their premature babies on life support. The funds raised through Tiny Survivors has allowed us to purchase much needed equipment to improve the care and comfort of our fragile newborns and to enhance the training of our staff, including our simulation program, so that we are better prepared to respond in emergency situations. Providing this level of excellence would not be possible without private donations, such as those we have received from our long-time partners, Tiny Survivors."
