Desjardins
The Desjardins Group, through its foundation, has long been committed to helping students achieve their full potential by providing access to post-secondary education through academic scholarships.
We are pleased to count on a partnership with Desjardins Group and its Desjardins Scholarships in Child Health aimed at encouraging its own students. This collaboration will allow our young talented researchers specialized in pediatrics to benefit from research scholarships for a total of $1,000,000 over 10 years.
“We are proud to associate the name of Desjardins with the cutting-edge pediatric research conducted at the MCH. For us, education is a priority and we believe that knowledge contributes to the advancement of society and helps people reach their full potential,” says Ms. Monique Leroux, Chair of the Board and CEO of Desjardins Group. “Our scholarships will allow many students to further perfect their skills through access to advanced education.”
As the only pediatric teaching hospital for McGill University’s Faculty of Medicine, one of the most prestigious in the world, the MCH is responsible for much of the training of young doctors and researchers in clinical pediatrics and child health research.
Dr. Caroline Quach, Epidemiologist, Microbiologist and Pediatric Infectious Diseases specialist at the Montreal Children’s Hospital and Co-director of the MUHC Vaccine Study Centre, says it is extremely difficult to get that first scholarship or grant. “Proving for the first time that you are worth being financially supported requires an extraordinary forcefulness. Doesn’t it feel safer to put your trust (and money) in the hands of someone who already has experience and funding? This is why support such as that provided by Desjardins, through the Desjardins Scholarships in Child Health, is of the utmost importance.”
