For five days, 32 teams, many from the Montreal business community, hit the streets to Pedal for Kids for the Montreal Children’s Hospital.  Nine hundred participants fundraised all year and, from June 13-17, celebrated their achievement with a tour through downtown Montreal on the 30-seat Mighty Bike. Funds raised this year go to purchase equipment for the Children’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, which cares for some of the province’s sickest babies. Pedal for Kids began 25 years ago in 1992, when Sylvie Lalumière and Michael Conway decided to fundraise in memory of their daughter Meagan, who had been treated at the Montreal Children’s Hospital.  Twenty-five years later, the event is still going strong withmore than 18,750 cyclists and 135 teams taking part over the years.  Collectively, they have raised just under $12 million. For 25 years, Pedal for Kids has been helped to transform the lives of thousands of patients throughout all areas of the hospital.  Funds raised through the event have been used to finance cutting-edge equipment; offer professional training and development; support ground-breaking research; and build a new Montreal Children’s Hospital.
