Celebrating Kids Helping Sick Kids!
To celebrate their outstanding contributions, for a 4th year in a row, we invited our Young Ambassadors club members to a big party. Over 175 guests attended, including young ambassadors, their proud parents, and even grandparents! This year our Child Life Specialists joined in too, to give our Young Ambassadors a hands-on experience of what patients enjoy in our music therapy program and build-a-bear activities.
Liam and his mom, Kim, were on hand to talk about what it was like to spend over 400 days in the hospital while waiting for his new heart. And how the heart-transplant was a success. Today Liam is back at school. But he and his family will forever be grateful to the Young Ambassadors who organized fundraisers in their school or communities or requested donations to the Children’s Hospital in lieu of birthday gifts. Monies raised fund equipment, research and the activities that helped Liam pass the time in hospital.
This year, the Young Ambassadors Club which is for young donors under 18, raised $322,465 to help sick kids get better. Congratulations and thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
