September 18, 2017

The Government of Quebec’s appointment of Mr. Peter Kruyt as Chair of the Board of Directors along with 9 independent members marks an important step forward in the renewal of the leadership of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC). We congratulate the new members for volunteering to serve and for their commitment to ensuring the MUHC continues to be a world leader in advancing patient care, teaching, research and technological assessment. We are impressed with the varied backgrounds and expertise of the new Directors and are confident that they will be truly reflective of the diversity of the MUHC community. In the short-term we are looking to the Board to provide leadership in recruiting the new PDG of the MUHC as well as in setting its strategic direction. Fundraising is critical to the future of the MUHC, and the continued support of our community is key to ensuring we remain a leading university teaching health center. We are committed to working hand-in-hand with the MUHC leadership to raise funds for the priorities of the hospitals and in the best interest of patients and their families. We would like to thank David McAusland and his committee for their diligence in recruiting the best of our community to serve on the Board of Directors as well as Dr. Gaetan Barrette, Minister of Health and Social Services, for his commitment to ensuring the MUHC remains a leader in the Quebec health care network.
