20 years of Kurling, 20 years of amazing support
It was a memorable evening at the P.K. Subban Atrium where we celebrated the organizers of Kurling for Kids, Robert Sears, John Stone, and Carl Mainguy, as they reached a major milestone: their 20th anniversary.
Robert and his wife Sylvie are passionate about curling. After learning their daughter, then 2-year-old Jessica, had an arteriovenous malformation (AVM), a rare condition involving an abnormal contact between the arteries and veins of the brain, they decided to transform the friendly tournament they organized once a year into a fundraising machine. In recognition for the great care that saved their daughter’s life, they founded Kurling for Kids.
20 years later, they have raised 2.5 million dollars to support both of Montreal's pediatric hospitals, the CHU Ste-Justine and the Montreal Children’s Hospital.
Thank you to Kurling, and to all the participants. Our Foundation cannot thank you enough for being by our side, helping us offer the best possible healthcare to sick children and their families.
