In 2019, the annual gala raised $46,000 for the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). 

Maria Lisa started the Smile & Joy Foundation following the birth of her twin granddaughters who had complications at birth and were followed at the NICU. Maria and her family organize galas each year at Golf Métropolitain. Over the years, the goal has remained the same: help improve the lives of sick or disabled children and their families.
