Kurling For Kids
In 2025, Kurling For Kids (K4K) broke a historic fundraising record: more than $565,000 – a first!
This charity is dedicated to improving the lives of children and their families in pediatric hospitals in Quebec, Ontario, and Manitoba. They are committed to raising funds to allow children’s hospitals to provide state-of-the-art treatments, programs, and medical equipment that would otherwise be inaccessible with current budgets.
Grateful for the lifesaving care their daughter Jessica received, Robert Sears and Sylvie Sanschagrin decided to organize an annual curling tournament to support Montreal’s children’s hospitals. In 1999, the tournament was renamed, and Kurling For Kids officially became an annual fundraiser dedicated to helping children and families overcome the challenges they themselves had faced.
Dozens of affiliated events are also held each year, with all proceeds going to the organization.
Over the years, this modest initiative by parents wishing to thank a hospital has grown into an annual event that, in 2025, celebrates its 27th anniversary and has raised more than $5.5 million for several pediatric hospitals across Canada.
