Le Bal des tannants for The Children's is a huge success

The 24th Annual Bal des Tannants for The Children’s Raises $1,609,581 for Quebec’s Most Seriously Ill Children and Teens, and Expectant Mothers with High-Risk Pregnancies

New Brunswick Singer Olivier Bergeron, American Idol Contestant, Gives Special Performance

Montréal, Québec – May 10, 2025 — More than 650 enthusiastic guests – including – philanthropists, business leaders, healthcare professionals, and politicians – gathered on Friday, May 9 to raise an outstanding $1,609,581 for The Montreal Children’s Hospital (The Children’s) and its patients during the 24th annual Bal des tannants for The Children’s.

The Bal des tannants for The Children’s is a playful mixture of glamour and mischief. Guests have a shared goal--to help children and teens with life-threatening ailments or injuries regain their health—and just a bit of brattiness. After all, a bratty kid is a healthy kid, and we want every child in the province and beyond to be as healthy as possible.

Singer Olivier Bergeron wows the crowd

Adding to the magic of the event, American Idol contestant Olivier Bergeron drove all the way from his hometown in northern New Brunswick to sing at the ball. Bergeron, the first Canadian to be among the top 20 finalists on the hit talent show, delivered a spectacular performance. He also impressed viewers as a semi-finalist on Québec’s Star Académie in 2022.

The Ball attracted a stellar crowd thanks to our dynamic trio of Honourary Co-Presidents: Abe Adham, Deep Khosla, and Ève Laurier.

“The generosity of everyone in the room was breathtaking,” said Abe Adham, Managing Director and Head, Quebec Investment Banking, Chair, Quebec Market – TD Bank Group. “Every dollar raised is an investment in the health and well-being of Quebec’s children, teens, and pregnant women from every region of Quebec. It is the most noble cause.”

Supporting Future Generations

Hosted by The Children’s Foundation, the gala was held at Starlink Aviation, where an airplane hangar was magically transformed into a glittering ballroom.

Proceeds from the ball support The Children’s Healthy Kids Fund, giving the hospital the means to purchase urgently needed equipment, improve patient care, and advance life-changing pediatric research.

“It was more than just a beautiful evening—it was a powerful show of support for the children and their families and healthcare professionals who inspire us every day,” added Deep Khosla, Co-Head of Canadian Corporate and Investment Banking, Bank of America Merrill Lynch. “Together, we’re building a healthier future for children and expectant mothers across the province and beyond.”

Dress Code: Elegant with a Dash of Mischief

The evening’s theme—glamour with a bratty twist—was embraced with enthusiasm. Guests added a little whimsical flair to their attire: glow-in-the-dark bowties adorned tuxedos, plastic tiaras were coupled with elegant gowns, and Hawaiian shirts added a bit of cheeky charm!

“The Children’s is so much more than a hospital—it’s a lifeline for families, and a place where kids get the care and compassion they need to heal,” said Ève Laurier, Vice President, Communications, Marketing and Public Affairs, Bombardier. “It’s a privilege to support the extraordinary healthcare teams who deliver that level of innovation and empathy every single day.”

A Memorable Evening

Thanks to our phenomenal Ball Committee—Catherine Beaudoin, Véronique Black, Christine Boivin, Jennifer Cosgrove, Juliana Lima-Arsenault, Jamie Silver and Audrey Vallières. Every detail of the evening was carefully curated, including gourmet creations by Beatrice Catering, the electric energy of the Montreal Rhapsody Orchestra and the charming and charismatic Master of Ceremonies Ben Mulroney. The evening was unforgettable.

“The difference between a good hospital and a great one is philanthropy,” said Renée Vézina, President of The Montreal Children’s Hospital Foundation. “A good hospital meets expectations. A great one pushes boundaries, pioneers breakthroughs, and transforms lives. Thanks to everyone who attended the Bal des tannants for The Children’s and the community’s year-round support, The Children’s is among the world’s greatest hospitals—because the team stops at nothing to give every child the best possible chance of a healthy future.”
