Having a child with health issues that are difficult to diagnose is no easy task.
It’s a long journey of requests, rejections, blood tests, uncomfortable exams, and inconclusive results—all gathered after a slew of fruitless appointments with some fifty specialists who often pass the buck to one another because they can’t pinpoint exactly what’s wrong.
In my case—and that of my autistic son, William—I had to fight relentlessly for eight long years before I had the chance to meet Dr. Myers, a neurologist at the Montreal Children’s Hospital, who finally took charge of his case. But even then, it took another four years before we had the opportunity to participate in one of his research programs.
It was such a relief to hear this news—a relief I now want to share with other parents who are facing the same challenges as I am but haven’t had the same opportunity.
That’s why my team at Top Adn and I want to help Dr. Myers raise even more funds for his department’s research program on rare neurological diseases, which will enable him to meet the critical needs of other children with neurological disorders.
