Daniel's Ride - 2020
Daniel's Ride is proud to participate to the Pedal for Kids event. Helping sick kids is something that is very close to our heart and our core values.
We are very happy to help raise funds for Children’s Healthy Kids Fund, supporting the most urgent needs and projects of the Children's.
When Daniel was born deaf, his parents Dayle and Nick were very concerned. His father Nick had grown up deaf himself and therefore he knew all too well the isolation and loneliness that come with being a deaf child in a world in which everyone else can hear. At just 14 weeks, Daniel began wearing regular hearing aids but they were not effective due to the type of hearing loss he has.
At the age of 3, Daniel began the process of having a Bone Anchored Hearing Aid (BAHA) surgically implanted – a cutting-edge advancement in hearing technology. This procedure would require four surgeries at The Montreal Children’s Hospital, under the care of Dr. Sam Daniel, MDCM, FRCSC, M.Sc., Pediatric Otolaryngologist and Director, Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery.
The BAHA opened Daniel’s world. From his sister's melodic voice to the rumble of a car motor, Daniel was finally able to hear fully. This allowed him to develop critical language skills and boosted his confidence over the course of his life.
Now 15 years old, Daniel is an active teen who is passionate about karate and loves new-age gadgets and technology.
Thanks to all our supporters for their generous contribution!
