Several promising projects have seen the light of day: The Heart and Hands clinics in disadvantaged schools, the DocTocToc bus in the city’s north end, and Minnie’s Hope in the far north. These initiatives have helped even more vulnerable children and families to access essential care.
Art also found its place at the Hospital, creating more compassionate treatment spaces. Think of the big mosaic that adorns our entrance, or the interactive walls in the emergency room, pieces that are both beautiful and healing.
Certain individuals also made their mark. Isabelle Marcoux, who has been involved with The Children’s for many years, received an Award of Excellence for her remarkable commitment, notably her exceptional contribution to our major $200 million campaign. Our young Leaders on Wheels, living with handicaps or complex health conditions, shone a spotlight on the Hospital with their inspiring entrepreneurial endeavour, which also received an Award of Excellence.
But above all, this remarkable year is in your image. Because of you, so many children receive the quality care they deserve, surrounded by the best specialists, a devoted care team, and passionate researchers. Thank you for helping sick children in Quebec get back to being a little bratty.

Once again, this year, incredible results were achieved thanks to the generosity of Foundation donors. We raised record sums to meet the MCH-MUHC’s most urgent needs, supporting maternal health and pediatric research at The Institute.
Promising projects, such as the mobile clinic, Heart & Hands clinic and Minnie’s Hope Social Pediatric Centre, expanded access to specialized care, reaching more vulnerable children and families from Montreal to Northern Quebec.
In parallel, three research projects have given numerous families new hope: the MCH-MUHC’s clinical research unit is preparing to double its cancer clinical trials over the next few years, innovative therapies including gene therapy are being developed to help restore the vision of children impacted by hereditary retinal diseases, and with the creation of the Colorectal Centre of Excellence, experts are working to establish new national standards.
Finally, innovative projects are transforming the care environment, with art playing an increasingly important role in healing, as seen in the mural at the hospital entrance and the interactive wall in the emergency room.

The Children’s Foundation is in the middle of a major $200-million campaign, which will close in March 2026, our most important fundraising effort ever. The goal is to support innovation in clinical care, research, and teaching in pediatric and maternal-fetal care at The Montreal Children’s Hospital. Funds raised are advancing groundbreaking projects in pediatric and maternal-fetal care that are pushing the envelope on an international scale. The Foundation also supports the Child Health and Human Development Program of the Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre one of Canada’s top three research centres.
Some of the sickest kids in the province depend on the cutting-edge care they receive at The Children’s, an international leader recognized for the exceptional quality of its medical and research teams, who hail from around the world. This campaign is allowing us to find Unexpected Ways to Heal and help young patients be their energetic selves once again. Because, at The Children’s, we prefer our kids to be spirited, even a little bratty – anything but sick.

As Quebec’s first pediatric hospital, The Children’s is world-renowned for the broad spectrum of highly specialized care provided to newborns, children, adolescents and maternal health.
Providing a human touch is part of The Children’s DNA. Representing a modern Quebec, the Hospital is setting and advancing standards for patient and family-centered care.
The Children’s provides access to specialized pediatric care to children living in an area spanning 63 percent of the territory of the province of Quebec. Affiliated with McGill University since 1904, the Hospital provides cutting-edge care to families across Quebec including the far north, in French, in English and in 45 other languages.
The Heart and Hands Pediatric Clinic at Verdun Elementary School will continue its vital work thanks to a generous gift from the Just for Kids Foundation.
This long-term investment secures the future of one of Quebec’s only school-based, resident-led pediatric clinics.
A second Heart and Hands clinic has now opened at Lakeside Academy in Lachine, made possible by the Rossy Family Foundation. It serves students from both Lakeside and Maple Grove Elementary—two communities facing significant social and health challenges.
In partnership with The Children’s and McGill University, these clinics not only deliver early, accessible care but also train future pediatricians, nurses, speech therapists, and other healthcare professionals directly in the communities they will serve. Together, they represent a transformative model for pediatric care in vulnerable neighbourhoods.
This year, The Children’s unveiled two new installations as part of its Healing Arts Project which aims to transform the hospital environment with innovative, kid-friendly artwork.
August 2024: Precious Bonds, a vibrant mural of a humpback whale and her calf set against the Montreal skyline, now welcomes visitors at the hospital entrance. It features a mosaic of 750 tiles hand-painted by patients, families, staff, donors, and local artists. This stunning piece was made possible by Claude Bigras and Andrée Lafleur through the Unexpected Ways to Heal campaign.
February 2025: Wonderscapes, a playful, interactive art installation, transformed the emergency department waiting room into a warm and welcoming space for children and teens. This project was funded by long-time donors J. Sebastien and Ghislaine Van Berkom.
In October, The Children’s celebrated the opening of its new Colorectal Centre of Excellence.
The centre provides advanced care for children living with complex conditions like anorectal malformations and Hirschsprung’s disease and is now recognized as a provincial and national leader in this field.
With an interdisciplinary approach that emphasizes compassionate, family-centered care, the centre offers clinical services, supports medical education, and conducts vital research to improve outcomes.
This landmark initiative is fully funded by The Children’s Foundation, with special thanks to lead donors Enfant Soleil and the R. Howard Webster Foundation, whose support helped bring this vital resource to life.
In September, the Children’s clinical research unit announced it will double the number of clinical trials for children with hard-to-treat cancers.
At The Montreal Children’s Hospital, we’re committed to ensuring no child or teen faces cancer without options. Each year, 250 young patients are diagnosed, with 40% battling aggressive or rare cancers. Yet over 70% lack access to clinical trials simply because none exist for their diagnosis. Clinical trials are vital to discovering safer, more effective treatments, but pediatric research remains underfunded in Canada. By doubling the number of clinical trials, we can have an even greater impact on the outcomes of children facing hard-to-treat cancers, giving them hope for the future.
Because of your support, we can transform care, improve survival, and lead a national shift in how childhood cancer is treated.
Again this year, I witnessed firsthand how our generous donors rose to meet every challenge. During the postal strike I met many of you and collected your donations in person, which helped ensure that essential programs for The Children’s young patients and their families continued without interruption. Thank you for being there.
I kept up my annual tradition of visiting my friends at The Children’s and their families. Lifting their spirits, sharing a few laughs and getting to know them fills me with joy and motivates me in my fundraising efforts.
Our holiday campaign, Each Donation Counts Double, once again provided an opportunity to help twice as many children by matching your gifts. Together, we made a real difference in the lives of our young patients and their loved ones, not to mention the dedicated Hospital staff who care for them. 23rd annual Bal des tannants for The Children’s raises a record $1,675,000
Generosity took flight as 700 of Quebec’s business and philanthropic leaders gathered at the Starlink Aviation hangar—transformed into a dazzling, high-energy ballroom—for the Bal des tannants.
Thanks to the passion and leadership of our honorary co-presidents, Sandra Chartrand (President, Sandra and Alain Bouchard Foundation) and Julie Godin (Co-Chair of the Board and Executive VP of Strategic Planning and Corporate Development at CGI), and our marvellously dedicated Ball committee, the evening soared past expectations, raising an incredible $1,675,000 to give sick children across Quebec a brighter future.
Guests arrived in gowns and tuxes—with a playful twist. Behind the glam, everyone embraced their inner wild child in honour of The Children’s young patients. Because as we say: a bratty kid is a healthy kid—and we want every child in Quebec to grow up strong, full of life and just a little silly.
33rd annual edition of Pedal for Kids brings total amount raised to $15 million
With a little encouragement from this year’s spokespatient Alessandro, 29 teams took to Montreal’s streets on our giant 30-person Mighty Bike, raising an incredible $500,000 for The Children’s.
Their teamwork and determination will help fund four key priorities: New intravenous (IV) pumps, The Mild Traumatic Brain Injury/Concussion Clinic, Child Life Services, and the Tiny Tim Fund for families facing financial hardship because of their child’s illness.

21st annual Caring for Kids Radiothon raises an outstanding $1,363,250 for seriously ill children
Kids and families shared powerful stories of healing and hope during the 21st annual Caring for Kids Radiothon, broadcast live on CJAD 800, 95.9 Virgin Radio, CHOM 97.7, and TSN Radio 690 in support of Quebec’s sickest children, their families and women with high-risk pregnancies.
Since 2004, the Caring for Kids Radiothon has raised over $31 million, thanks to the generosity of our supporters, which helps saves lives.

The Children’s Foundation raises a generous $856,646 through its annual golf tournament
At the Royal Montreal Golf Club, home to the 2024 President’s Cup just a few weeks later, Quebec's business leaders traded jackets and suits for shorts, skirts, and golf clubs to take part in a golf tournament benefiting a worthy cause.
The 28th annual golf tournament achieved an impressive fundraising total of $856,646 in support of surgical fellowships, which not only train young surgeons to enhance their surgical knowledge and technical skills and to advance innovative pediatric surgery but also allow the Children’s to attract and hire some of the best and brightest young surgeons.
The tournament also supports the Complex Care team, which has established Canada's first integrated care centre, with the goal of ensuring seamless care delivery to all our young patients.
The resounding success of this year’s edition is the result of the commitment of its stellar organizing committee, co-chaired by Isabelle Marcoux, C.M., Executive Chair of the Board, Transcontinental Inc., and Mitch Garber, C.M., but also of the generosity of the participating golfers and the steadfast support of sponsors, without whom such an achievement would not have been possible.
In November 2024, the Déjeun'aide team met at the trendy Yoko Luna restaurant and raised $34,500 to help meet The Children's most urgent needs.
Déjeun'aide supports The Children’s Foundation by giving students and young professionals the opportunity to network with business, social and community leaders over a friendly breakfast.
In addition to providing students and young professionals the opportunity to chat with a business leader, the annual event also allows leaders to mentor and engage with the next generation of young professionals and philanthropists.
The 2024 edition was presented by RCL – Reitmans Canada Ltd. and featured some of the province’s top leaders, including Andrea Limbardi, President and CEO of RCL. A special thank you to all our participants, leaders, and generous sponsors for the success of this event!
Our major campaign’s momentum continued, garnering significant interest and allowing The Children's to distinguish itself by pursuing its vision of Unexpected Ways to Heal. Because of your commitment, the Foundation raised a record $39.7 million in 2024-2025.
Thanks to you, the Foundation exceeded its fundraising target of $36.06 million by 10%. Your generosity provided tremendous support for The Children's and its outstanding healthcare professionals, who were on the front line of the healthcare system during another very challenging year for Canadian pediatric hospitals.
The main areas of growth during the last fiscal year were major gifts and special events, including the Bal des Tannants. I would also like to thank our loyal community of corporate and individual donors, partner foundations and all those who organized and participated in countless fundraising events. These sources of funds are vital, as they give the Hospital the flexibility to launch innovative projects and respond to the most urgent needs of its young patients.
Realized net income was $9 million, up from $5.6 million last year, due to increased interests, dividends and mutual fund distributions. The Foundation's expenses increased because of growth linked to our major campaign.
Over the past year, the Foundation gave a record $32.7 million to The Children's, an increase of $9.2 million or 39% over the previous year mostly due to the realization of major campaign projects.
Of this amount, the Hospital used $13.5 million (41%) to fund research projects and provide academic support; just over $2.33 million (7%) to purchase equipment; $12.6 million (38%) to fund urgent priorities; and $4.3 million (13%) to meet the last instalment towards the construction of the new Hospital.
Your steadfast support has made these remarkable results possible. On behalf of the Foundation, thank you for helping to ensure a bright future for The Children's and its young patients. Long live our little brats!
